People Behind the Space: DRMPRK
-
Tell us a bit about yourself and what inspired you to open DRMPRK?
I've always believed in the power of visual storytelling and creating spaces that are more than just places—they’re experiences. My background in graphic design and creative work naturally led me to develop DRMPRK as a space where people can immerse themselves in unique, impactful visuals and ideas. I wanted DRMPRK to be a blend of creativity, community, and inspiration—a place where people could come to be part of something innovative, whether through art, design, or just by experiencing the atmosphere. Opening DRMPRK felt like the right way to bring together my passion for design and my drive to build a community around creativity.
-
What do you enjoy most about DRMPRK, and how does it differ from other creative spaces?
-
What I love most about DRMPRK is witnessing people’s first reactions when they walk in and experience it for the first time. There’s a sense of surprise and wonder—it feels like stepping into a comfortable, welcoming home, or maybe even a place you’d never want to leave. It’s a bit like a playground for adults, a space where creativity and expression are free from judgment. I’ve worked to make DRMPRK inviting and relaxed, where people feel they can let their guard down and enjoy being present. It’s not just a space to create; it’s a place to feel at home, connect, and explore in an environment that’s both unique and genuinely hospitable.
What was your thinking behind the design of DRMPRK?
It all started with the basketball court. During the height of COVID, I felt like we all needed a burst of colour—something bold to lift spirits and bring some smiles back. At the time, there was a real lack of spaces that had any character; everything felt so sterile and corporate. With DRMPRK, I wanted to create a space with flavour, where artists could truly be themselves. It’s designed to be accessible and non-judgmental, a place where the experience is as easy and enjoyable which results in a high-quality output. Here, the focus is on creativity, community, and bringing people together in a way that feels real.
If you had to describe DRMPRK as a creative hub in three words what would they be?
-
Good price. Decent size. Big Vibes. That's 3 words right?
-
-
If you could invite any three people to collaborate in DRMPRK, who would they be and why?
-
Dr. Gabor Maté – I’d love to have Dr. Maté bring his approach to well-being. He is so grounded and genuine, and I think he’d help create an environment where people feel safe to be themselves. Bringing him into this space would elevate DRMPRK to be more than just a creative hub—it’d become a place for reflection, connection, and more importantly personal growth.
-
-
Toro y Moi – Toro y Moi’s approach to art is so versatile; he crosses genres and brings this whole vibe of exploration and chill. Collaborating with him would add a new layer of sensory experience to DRMPRK—imagine his soundtracks guiding people through the space, making it feel alive with rhythm and mood. His sound would transform DRMPRK into an immersive experience where people don’t just see the art but feel it.
-
-
Pablo Rochat – Pablo’s work is so unique and unexpected, and always brings a sense of fun. I think he’d help make DRMPRK feel like a true playground for adults, filled with moments of surprise and humor. It’s all about breaking down barriers and letting people explore, and he’s perfect for that.
-
How does DRMPRK foster innovation and creativity for the businesses or individuals within its space?
-
At DRMPRK, we make it a priority to stay in tune with the latest trends and think about what’s coming next, not just for our own space but for the industry as a whole. We dedicate time each week to explore new ideas and keep up with what’s happening around us because, in such a fast-paced world, staying connected is essential.
-
-
Innovation here isn’t forced—it’s a natural part of who we are. We’re always excited about tech and finding ways to enhance the experience, whether that’s with something playful, like a Siri-operated disco ball, or other details that make an impact. It’s these little touches that stick with people and create an environment where creativity can flow.
-
Can you share any inspiring stories of projects or creators that have flourished at DRMPRK?
-
One creator who really stands out is Vili Lasike, known as @villz.visionz. Vili is a talented video creator with an incredible work ethic, but he’s also just a genuinely kind, caring, and hardworking family man. Over the years, we’ve watched him grow from strength to strength, and he’s constantly brought new customers through our doors.
-
-
Despite his talent and success, he’s always stayed so modest and down-to-earth. Seeing Vili ourish here at DRMPRK has been incredibly rewarding, and I couldn’t be more stoked for his journey. He’s a true testament to the power of creativity, dedication, and community. Vili for the win!
-
Are there any exciting projects or developments coming up for DRMPRK?
-
Absolutely! We’re always building and finding new ways to enhance the space. Right now, we’re working on a few exciting additions—a music studio and mic booth, perfect for artists who want a place to create and record. We’re also revamping our toilet and changing room area to add both style and comfort.
-
-
With summer around the corner, we’re planning a BBQ and cooking area to bring everyone together for some great food and community vibes. We’re even adding a shootable studio kitchen and an artist video area to support even more creative projects. There’s always something new on the horizon at DRMPRK!
