Burnside Bowling Club - Venue Hire

The Burnside Bowling Club is conveniently located, just 3 kilometres from Christchurch Airport and situated in picturesque and tranquil Burnside Park.

At Burnside, located at  330 Avonhead Road, we can offer you four rooms, with internet access that will meet the needs of any group from 10 to 200 persons, with off-street parking for up to 100 cars.

The air-conditioned Dining Hall, (with its fully equipped commercial kitchen adjacent), can seat up to 200. (Tables are optional). It has a pull down screen with a projector, and an excellent Sound System.

This room has been used as a Trades or Exhibition hall, for Garage sales, as an amphitheatre, for Funeral Services and mix and mingle evenings.
Not to mention Fitness Classes, Indoor Bowling, Christenings, and Weddings. The Dining Hall has an excellent “break-out” area if required.
The Dining Hall can be treated as a ‘blank canvas’ – if that is what you seek – or, alternatively we (or you) can set the hall up in whatever manner you wish.
Pack down assistance is available.

Crockery and cutlery are available, as is Coffee and Tea making facilities should they be required, which is also the case in our upstairs Lounge. Catering by Club volunteers or through our professional Catering partners can be arranged.

The Lounge (accessed by a lift or by stairs) also has a kitchen adjacent, ideal for heating savouries and the like before serving. This air-conditioned and carpeted lounge can seat up to 180 persons at 24 round tables. Our lounge looks out over
our three greens is a sun-trap and lovely and cosy during Winter  especially. It can be used for similar occasions as the Dining Hall but with its splendid Sound System, Stage and Dance floor, not to mention the most excellent Bar -and bar
staff- three television screens usually tuned to a Sky Sport Channel, it is more akin to parties and celebrations, of all kinds.

With the overhead projector and pull down screen the Lounge also provides hirers with an ideal meeting and/or training venue.

A smaller ‘Executive Room’ adjacent to the lounge can also be hired out for small meetings of no more than 20.
Our ladies Locker room is also available for hire for similar small meetings/gatherings.This room is on the ground floor.

Of course at Burnside, (regarded by many as New Zealand’s leading Bowling Club), our main pursuit is providing Lawn Bowls to our members and to the Community.

After the more serious competitive bowls have concluded for the day we welcome groups and business houses, schools and neighbours, to come and have a roll-up.
Many business’s in the North West use our facilities and the superb greens we provide, for a fun evening that  can involve a few drinks and a BBQ during
or after the bowls. Business Houses (and Social Clubs) have quickly recognised this non-exertive activity as an excellent team building exercise for their employees and workmates.

Our rates are competitive and are subject to time, date, numbers, availability etc.
