A brief sojourn down Vulcan Lane in Auckland’s Central City will soon bring you to No. 9, and up an enigmatic flight of stairs a renowned music venue/restaurant/bar/club space awaits you – a space home to countless legends, stars, curiosities, oddities and tall tales of decadent debauchery over the years. Cassette Nine; a preferred palace of perennial partying.

 

A homely and relaxed place by day, Cassette offers delightful diner style burgers and hot dogs, accompanied with eccentric starters to wow the taste-buds. Popular with local city workers, suits and creatives as well as tourists and families. The focus on local seasonal produce alongside locally bought ingredients combine to create, in our opinion, the most humble and satisfying meal experience in the city.

 

By night Cassette becomes a visual and aural feast! A wide range of clientele enjoy an eclectic mash of entertainment – local indie bands and DJs ply their noisy craft on Fridays at Mum Club; top New Zealand DJs and international talent push club sounds every Saturday at Sick Disco; legendary club night Teenage Kicks messes with your mid-week (in a loving way) every Wednesday. Hipsters, club kids, travellers and locals, people of all ages and walks of life – tall or short, gay or straight, black or white, rich or poor – make up the thousands who cross this threshold weekly.




Aside from the weekly club offerings, Cassette is also host to numerous one-off events, private functions, and launches - as well as Bitchin' Bingo every fortnight, burlesque evenings, comedy and occasional theatrics.

Its your party, you can cry if you want to… but wouldn’t you rather be up to your hips in good times, great company, sublime food and plentiful drink in your very own private party patch?

Cassette will happily arrange dedicated spaces for groups of 10 to 300. You may wish to reserve booths during the early evening for a relaxed bite to eat and casual after-work tipple, or to take part in the infamous Bitchin’ Bingo sessions on Wednesdays. The Chesterfield booths along the denim wall can fit cosy groups of 6 to 8 people, while the booths alongside the bar, stairwell and dance-floor areas accommodate 10 to 15 people.



There are two spaces available for hire; the private back bar and the Main Room. Both can be hired exclusively or up until a certain time in the evening. Exclusive hire allows access to our state of the art Funktion-One soundsystem, DJ equipment, private enjoyment of the balcony and main bar, with the option to move into the Back Bar as the night progresses.
