Ironbank
Ironbank
Ironbank on K Road is one of the most stunning and unique buildings in New Zealand. But did you know it’s also one of the most environmentally friendly and sustainable buildings in NZ? In 2010 it was the receipient of Sustainable Architecture Award from the NZ Architecture Awards, as well the Architecture Medal from the NZ Institute of Architects as a testament to being such a highly regarded building. RTA Studios really delivered something that’s truly world-class when they conceptualised and designed the Ironbank.
All of the spaces in Ironbank are naturally ventilated, this means there’s no need for air conditioning. The high exposure of natural light means offices require minimal electrical lighting. The design of Ironbank is original and daring, it casts a strong impression for anyone driving or walking past the unmistakable iconic steel-clad orange building on K Road.
In terms of a shared space, the building’s layout of using clusters of stacked boxes means that occupants are able to express their own personality while sharing a communal space of an urban courtyard linked by two streets. There’s a feeling that social interaction is heavily encouraged. It’s no surprise it houses some of NZ’s most innovative companies/coworking spaces such as BizDojo, SmallWorlds and the soon to be opened GameDojo. This is a building that houses top creative talents from many different industries.
Ironbank was also the previous home of Sharedspace so we have many fond memories of this amazing building in our early days of our company.
